HOW TO REGISTER

STEP 1: Fill out the Interest Form

Start the registration process by filling out the Interest Form. In the form, you’ll let us know what campus you’re interested in, a little bit about your singer’s background, and ask any questions you have about the program. After submitting the form, an SFGC staff member will be in touch within 1-2 business days to answer your questions and send you the most up-to-date information about the program.

STEP 2: Complete a Singing Placement

After submitting an Interest Form, we’ll email you a link to sign up for a Singing Placement. We host these meetings to get to know each singer and ensure they are placed in the correct ensemble based on their age and skill level. Placements are for singers who will be at least 6 years old by September 30th of the upcoming school year. Singers ages 4-5 should join our Prep Chorus, which doesn’t require a Placement!

Singing Placements are generally offered from March through May in the Spring preceding the upcoming school year. To learn more about how Singing Placements work, Click the link below.

STEP 3: Apply for Tuition Assistance (Optional)

SFGC is proud to offer tuition assistance for our regular school-year programming, made possible by the Elizabeth Avakian Scholarship Fund. Our Tuition Assistance Application is generally open from March through May in the Spring semester preceding the upcoming school year. When the application opens, we’ll send the link to apply to everyone who has submitted an Interest Form. For more information about the Tuition Assistance application process, visit our Tuition Assistance page.

STEP 4: Submit the Registration Form

Once your singer has been placed in an ensemble (and you’ve submitted a Tuition Assistance Application if needed), we’ll email you a link to register for our program. You’ll find out which ensemble you’re invited to join at that time. The Registration Form generally opens in mid to late May preceding the upcoming school year. After submitting the form, you’ll receive a link to make your first payment. For more information about tuition, visit our Tuition page.

The Registration Form is generally open through mid-August for Prep Chorus and mid-June for all other ensembles. Space is limited in our classes, so make sure that you fill out this form sooner rather than later to secure your spot! Registration for all of our ensembles is first come, first serve.

STEP 5: Complete Your Registration Package

After submitting the Registration Form, you are almost ready to sing with us! Before the start of the school year, we may ask you to fill out additional form(s) to complete your registration package. These are generally quick and easy housekeeping items to make sure you and your chorister are ready for the start of the year.

Singers in Level II and above are required to attend SFGC Summer Music Camp and must complete a Camp Form to finalize their registration package. Camp activities generally take place from the last week of July through the first week of August. For more information about the experience of Summer Music Camp, please visit our Summer Programs page.

We can’t wait to sing with you!

RETURNING SINGERS

Once you’re registered for our program, you won’t need to fill out an Interest Form or complete another Singing Placement. At the end of the school year, our faculty meet to determine whether each singer will advance to the next ensemble or spend another year in their current ensemble. This includes current Prep Chorus singers, who move up to Training Chorus by director recommendation and do not need to complete a Singing Placement. Promotion decisions are released in May of each year.

Returning families still need to complete a Tuition Assistance Application (if needed) and submit the Registration Form, as well as other forms as applicable. Priority is not given to returning families when registering – our ensembles are all first come, first serve!

If you have previously exited from the chorus and would like to rejoin us, SFGC does require your singer to complete another Placement. This allows us to reassess their skill set and musical readiness in order to place them in an ensemble that best fits their current needs. If you are rejoining us after a period of time away, please submit an Interest Form.
