Leandra Ramm, Solo Intensive Instructor
LEANDRA RAMM is a remarkably versatile mezzo-soprano whose “beautiful and quite moving” performances (Nordstjernan) have been heard at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the United Nations, and Symphony Space. She made her debut as soloist in Kurt Weill’s The Eternal Road with the American Symphony Orchestra at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall. Her work with Bay Area institutions includes solo appearances with San Francisco Symphony in Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms (conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas) and Bach’s Magnificat (Dame Jane Glover), and performing Mama in Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire’s Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena with San Francisco Opera Guild, also featured on the Albany Records release.
An accomplished recitalist and orchestral soloist, Ms. Ramm has appeared with ensembles including San Francisco Choral Society, Silicon Valley Philharmonic, San Francisco City Chorus, and Zephyr Symphony. Operatic credits include engagements with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, West Edge Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Opera San José, and international performances at the Buxton Opera House in the UK. She has also collaborated with the Center for Contemporary Opera, appeared in Lisa Bielawa’s made-for-TV opera Vireo, and recorded with Albany Records and Ablaze Records. She is a grant recipient of Opera America’s Career Blueprints for Singers and was recognized as a National Finalist in the Women in Opera Division of The American Prize.
Since relocating to the Bay Area in 2013, Leandra has been a professional member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus and San Francisco Symphony Chorus. Equally committed to education, she serves as a teaching artist with San Francisco Opera Guild, director with the San Francisco Boys Chorus, and faculty with the American Conservatory Theater Young Conservatory. Leandra is thrilled to inspire and mentor the next generation of female musicians at San Francisco Girls Chorus. She brings to the program not only a wealth of stage experience but also a deep passion for nurturing young artists, helping them cultivate technical excellence, confidence, and artistry.
She now works from her sewing studio in Santa Rosa, where she does everything from custom costumes, alterations for locals, children's clothes, to designing, making and altering costumes for the San Francisco Girls Chorus.
