Angelina Picazo, Training Chorus Director
Angelina Picazo joined the San Francisco Girls Chorus in 2022 and has since served in several roles, including Rehearsal Aide, Level I Director, and now Training Chorus Director. Angelina is thrilled to continue working with this age group and finds great joy in guiding students at the beginning of their musical journey.
She holds a B.A. in Music Composition with a minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and earned her Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music from San Francisco State University in spring 2025. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Music Education at San José State University. In addition to her role at SFGC, Angelina is an Assistant Teacher in the Vocal Department at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (RASOTA), working with singers ages 14-18 across various ensembles.
A passionate educator, Angelina believes in the transformative power of choral music to build confidence, foster belonging, and enrich lives through artistic expression. Her student-centered philosophy emphasizes creating an environment where singers feel valued, challenged, and inspired to grow both vocally and personally. Drawing on her experience teaching a wide range of ages and skill levels, she brings a well-rounded approach to choir direction, vocal technique, and inclusive repertoire selection. By integrating social-emotional learning into her teaching, Angelina deepens students’ musical understanding, strengthens ensemble connection, and enhances performance outcomes. Her instruction emphasizes music literacy, sight-singing, and confident, expressive performance, supporting the development of both the individual singer and the collective sound.
