Fund-a-Need
Contributions to Fund-a-Need benefit the Elizabeth Avakian Scholarship Fund and SFGC's life-changing music education programs. The San Francisco Girls Chorus believes that every girl, regardless of her family’s financial means, possesses the capacity and desire for success. Since its founding, SFGC has provided need-based scholarships to thousands of choristers, making possible their participation in the Chorus.
Each year, approximately one-third of choristers rely on financial assistance; the average scholarship awarded covers 67% of tuition; and 15% of scholarships awarded go to families living at or below the poverty line. Your philanthropic support through Fund-A-Need will advance the Chorus’s work to provide an exemplary music education for girls and young women and empower them with the skills, self-discipline, and confidence to succeed in music and in life.
What will your support do?
$10,000 enables us to offer our incredible young women the unforgettable experience of performing in a leading San Francisco venue, such as Herbst Theatre or the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts!
$5,000 provides full tuition scholarships for two choristers in Levels I, II, or III for an entire year of study - 38 transformative weeks!
$2,500 sends three talented girls to summer music camp in Healdsburg for a week of study, performance, and development!
$1,000 provides the Chorus with risers for one of our more than 25 public performances each year!
$500 covers the purchase, alterations, and upkeep for one singer's uniform for the year
$250 provides music theory books for 6 choristers
$100 provides sheet music for choristers for a single song - this year's Holiday Concert at Davies, alone, included 31 incredible works!

Newly constructed, on the water and across the street from Acadia National Park—this luxury home is surrounded by a granite rock garden and blueberry bushes.
