Yolonda Young-Adisa, Chorus Counselor
Yolonda Young-Adisa is excited to join the San Francisco Girls Chorus as the Chorus Counselor. In this role, she will merge her doctoral interest in educational leadership with her passion for performing arts psychology and school climate work. Her commitment to working with girls who are also developing musicians is fueled by her curiosity about the relationship between intersectionality, social-emotional well-being, environment, and performance outcomes.
Yolonda is an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), and practices as a psychotherapist intern in Walnut Creek, CA. She graduated from Mills College in Oakland, CA in 2006 and received her MSW from Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, MA in 2011. Her love for piano and voice combined with her passion for social justice shaped her career goals and sealed her desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
She enjoys playing the piano, singing, and dancing in intentional movement communities. Photographing nature scenes and hiking are hobbies that she hopes to explore even more after she completes her Ed.D in Educational Leadership from Mills College, Oakland, CA.
