Luçik Aprahämian, Level III Director

Luçik Aprahämian’s versatility as a conductor places her equally at home in front of an orchestra, vocal  ensemble, and the opera stage. She is thrilled and honored to join the San Francisco Girls Chorus as the new Level III Director and Assistant Conductor for the Chorus School this year. With roots in the San Francisco Bay Area and Arizona, she has worked with groups of all ages and skill levels. Aprahämian is an avid exponent of new music and has commissioned and premiered works for a variety of performing forces, including a premiere of composer Sheli Nan's oratorio, The Last Stop Cafe, this coming spring. She also has a great passion for opera and was the co-artistic director of Southern Arizona Opera as well as assistant conductor and chorus-master for various professional opera companies in the Bay Area, including Opera Parallèle and Bayshore Lyric Opera. This coming winter, she has been invited to participate as an auditor at the Dallas Opera’s Women’s Conducting Institute in its inaugural year. Aprahämian has held various faculty positions in California and Arizona, and she currently serves as the music director at First Lutheran Church of Palo Alto. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and her doctorate in conducting from the University of Arizona.
