San Francisco Girls Chorus, Sight Singing and Music Theory Instructor
The work of composer, Eric Choate, SFGC Sight Singing and Music Theory Instructor, has been lauded by Examiner.com as "music to grab the listener's attention through novelty and hold it through technical discipline." He has numerous awards and frequently participates in exciting collaborations, particularly through the Guerilla Composer's Guild. Also noted by San Francisco Classical Voice for leading with a "nice, light hand," Eric has conducted numerous Bay Area ensembles. He is Conservatory Chorus Director at SF Conservatory of Music as well as Assistant Director of Berkeley Community Chorus and Orchestra. He serves as Associate Director of Music at the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin. He earned his BA in composition from St. Olaf College, with distinction, where he studied with Timothy Mahr and Justin Merritt. He was awarded a fellowship at the European American Musical Alliance in Paris. He holds a Masters of Music from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
