Jeffrey Anderson joined the San Francisco Symphony as Principal Tubist in September of 2002. Mr. Anderson was a student of Harvey Phillips and holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Indiana University as well as the Performer’s Certificate for special recognition of performance in recital. His Master of Music Degree was completed at Arizona State University as a student of Daniel Perantoni.

Prior to joining the San Francisco Symphony, he held positions with the New Mexico Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and was featured numerous times as soloist with both ensembles. Mr. Anderson’s performing credits include the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony, Seattle Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

He can be heard on numerous recordings of the San Francisco Symphony with Michael Tilson Thomas and recordings with Esa Pekka Salonen and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Mr. Anderson has presented master classes at numerous universities and conservatories including Indiana University, University of Michigan, Northwestern University and the Manhattan School of Music. He serves on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he teaches tuba and coaches chamber music.
