Together with the renowned Young People’s Chorus of New York City, the Girls Chorus performed the world premiere of Berkeley composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s Two Mountain Songs, a work for treble chorus inspired by Peruvian Indian folk traditions and commissioned by the American Composers Forum specifically for the two choruses. This concert marked the second meeting of these two talented ensembles, the first being in 2005 at the Seventh World Symposium on Choral Music in Kyoto, Japan, where they were the only two groups selected to represent the United States. Many thanks to all the SFGC Alumnae, parents, and supporters who joined us at this ground-breaking performance. Listen Online! As a direct result of SFGC’s inspiring debut at Lincoln Center, WNYC’s Evening Musicprogram —broadcasting cutting-edge and timeless music across five centuries— will feature the music of the San Francisco Girls Chorus before a national audience. Tune in to WNYC at 93.9 FM and AM 820 or listen online at http://www.wnyc.org/wnyc2/ to hear the extraordinary music of SFGC:
