San Francisco, February 5, 2010 – The five-time Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus will celebrate its 2010 season with a concert and black-tie gala Friday, March 26, at Herbst Theatre. Entitled “Americans in Paris,” the benefit features guest jazz artists The Hot Club of San Francisco and music made in and inspired by the famed French City of Light from the 19th century to the present. In addition to the concert, conducted by Artistic Director Susan McMane, the event will feature cocktails, dinner and live auction. Proceeds will support the San Francisco Girls Chorus scholarship fund,
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by a jazz age-infused concert by the San Francisco Girls Chorus and The Hot Club including music by Fauré, Stravinsky, Copland, Vernon Duke, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Django Reinhardt, Duke Ellington and David Conte.

Celebrating more than 30 years of extraordinary music with its 2009-2010 season, the San Francisco Girls Chorus is recognized as one of the world’s most respected vocal ensembles. This high caliber of music making was most recently recognized with two 2010 Grammy Awards—Best Classical Performance and Best Choral Performance--with the San Francisco Symphony and Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas for Mahler’s Symphony No. 8.
