What could be more heart-warming than 40 vibrant young voices singing joyfully together?

What a teaser this so-called spring weather has been! What with Saturday night’s gale force winds, (which took some sheets of tin off our barn roof) and the return of the rain on Tuesday, March seems to be roaring out like a mad, wet lion.

At home here and in Lake County, we’ve had dear friends visiting from New York for a few days, bringing warm memories to a blustery weekend. Among our fondest are the memories of a trip together to Tuscany eight summers ago. We looked back and laughed at our mishaps in the scorching August heat (who goes to Tuscany in August?!) -- scorpion attacks in the bathroom, interesting public wardrobe malfunctions, too much bad cinghiale -- and remembered with longing one who is now gone from us, due to illness. Like a family friendly version of Bocaccio’s Decameron, we sat around and told tales by candlelight, trying to keep the cold and dark at bay.

But now it’s time for a change of mood, regardless of the weather, and at SFGC we have a celebracion to put on! For those who *yearn for the sun right now, we have just the ticket. SFGC’s annual gala fundraiser this Friday night will feature music from Latin America, including an extraordinary performance with eight cellos, and the warmth and spice of the Afro-Cuban sound with guest ensemble LaTiDo. What could be more heart-warming than 40 vibrant young voices singing joyfully together?

Join us, and celebrate the good times!

Celebrate good times, come on!
There’s a party going on right here,
A celebration to last throughout the years.
So bring your good times, and your laughter too,
We’re gonna celebrate and party with you…
